Don't Pick on me

Aren't grown ups supposed to be "grown up"? Today I heard a story about a friend of a friend being picked on at work. Really, you'd think people would grow up and know how to treat each other...if you're old enough to drive you should be old enough to communicate without desacrating others.

On another note, had a great night at work. Nobody was picking on me at least. Of course I wasn't used at all and sat in the "stand in" bullpen for 3 hrs eating craft service and catching up with my friends from L.A.
Karen made a lovely Miranda Lambert and it was fun to watch Blake Shelton sing to her and tell her he loved her :). Also got to see Reba rehearse. She is 55 years old, with that Rocking Body! Go girlllllll!

I love country music and all of the artists, they are really blues artists at heart but with a country twist and a taste for fried chicken and biscuits. Growning up in a very small town I can relate, as a piece of that goes with me everywhere I go.

Time to be "almost famous" again

Yay, tomorrow I start working on the "Academy of Country Music Awards" and "A Superstar Tribute to the Female Artists of Country" TV special.

It's all at the MGM Grand arena, my home away from home as a stand in. :) Should be fun and busy. I get to see my friends from L.A. and watch and participate in rehearsals of the best country music performers in the world. Last year I sang with Lady Antebellum, sang with my sister as Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, and danced with Brooks and Dunn! Wish this was my job more often, but the 8 -10 times a year it comes around it rocks....or twangs, or whatever, depending on the genre of music.

Me...ACM Awards 2010 MGM Grand
Last week I enjoyed judging for the "Distinguished Young Woman of Nevada" pageant, (formerly called Nevada's Junior Miss, part of the America's Junior Miss Program). Although I'd rather be a host, and expressed that to them. She said that'd be great, so maybe I will do that instead next year.
FYI the pageant is for high school seniors in any state, to win scholarship money and there is no entry fee which is unlike most pageants. The winner of each state pageant wins money and goes to the nationals in Mobile, Alabama for the national title.  You don't have to be a "pageant pro" to be in this pageant. It's a positive experience for teens.

Still miss my precious kitty. Dreamt the other night she was still alive so then had to feel bad all over again when I woke up. The talk around the house is we all think we want another pet to love and lavish affection on. There are many animals out there in need, lord knows! But we'll give it some time. My husband's pet allergies will dictate more than anything the type of cat or dog we adopt.

I saw this quote the other day, "God will provide but you have to meet him halfway", so true. It was from a friend of mine, Beverly Washburn, a former famous child actress who wrote a book in 2009 about her life, it's called "Reel Tears", a good read.
Off to the gym....again....

They shoot horses don't they?

Yes my kitty cat Faith is still on my mind. But it's day 4 and I didn't cry immediately upon awakening this morning so that's something. It is helpful to be able to be there holding your pet when it has to be put down. To be able to say goodbye and see there's no pain for them is comforting. I was thinking about how they used to shoot racehorses when they broke a leg. I'm assuming nowadays they use a much kinder method.

Actually, this reminds me there are horse stables only 5 miles from my house. I should really go ride one of those beautiful animals soon. Horses are so theraupetic....unless you're grieving the loss of a horse...

I am preparing my judging questions for this weekend. Don't want to use the same boring questions like....who is your role model?.....who would you have lunch with if you could?....always the same answers, "Oprah Winfrey" and "my grandmother".

IT's 5:00 am and I may actually go to the gym soon since I'm up early. I'll join the "die hards" who get up this early to work out on a regular know those people....and hate them! ha ha  A friend in his 50's told me recently that my fitness quest is just going to get harder as I get older....thanks! I only half believe that because if you're already "fit" you age much more slowly than those who aren't...By the way, I am NOT near my 50's yet!!

I'm like Renee Zellwegger, I have 3 sizes, Small, Medium and.....Bridget Jones! Probably like a lot of women I have 3 sizes in my closet. Size 6, 8 and 10. There may also be a few size 4's collecting dust in there too.....but I gave up that quest (insanity) years ago. A 6 is my perfect size now....and 8 is just fine and a 10 is my "post holiday, pre-summer, temporary" size.

One last word about cats. I read that you can make "cat nip" tea for humans....may have to try that sometime, but first I need a ball of yarn and a few soft toys in case I get in a playful mood.

First my cat, now Elizabeth Taylor

It's a week of loss. First my kitty passed away Sunday, very sad about that. Then this morning Elizabeth "Violet Eyes" Taylor died. My cat picked good company to pass away with I suppose. Two more beautiful souls up in heaven.

I hate it when I head towards my kitty's room and then realize she's gone...sometimes it's hard to happened so fast. One day she was well, the next day dying. Life is fragile.

This weekend I am judging a pageant called "Distinguished Young Woman" which used to be called "International Junior Miss" since it was founded in the 1950's. The name has changed along with some other re-branding to go with the changing of the times.

Also looking forward to standing in for some top notch performers next week at the "Academy of Country Music Awards." This is always a fulfilling experience on many levels. I am so close to the action whether it be dancing on stage with Brooks and Dunn, singing The House That Built Me for Miranda Lambert, or accepting an award for Lady Antebellum, it's never dull. It was not my "Hollywood Dream" to be a professional rehearsal actress, but it's interesting where life takes you...

Rest in peace Elizabeth Taylor....if you need someone to pass along that 33 carat Krupp diamond to I would be honored!
